B4I is an STFC wide programme that supports UK industry in overcoming challenging product, manufacturing or process performance problems with the goal of boosting productivity.
STFC operates large-scale national laboratories with key experimental and computational capabilities. B4I gives industries access to unique laboratories and the ability to engage with world-class researchers, allowing them to develop projects that address specific challenges and help participants make a step-change to their business. The Hartree Centre is home to some of the most technically advanced high performance computing, data analytics, machine learning technologies and experts in the UK. From early stage SMEs to international corporations, we work with industry and the research community to address real life challenges and accelerate the adoption of high performance technologies, delivering transformative gains in performance, productivity and time to market.
Bridging for Innovators runs from September 2017 until March 2021 and offers funding for companies to complete projects in two ways:
- STFC will fund a proportion of project costs with matched funding from the company (depending on company size) – this can be cash or in kind contribution.
- De minimis funding up to £50,000 (depending on company eligibility)
